Summer Season Registration Deadline – June 7 (end of day)
We are continuing to see encouraging progress at the provincial and city levels, and are just a few steps from having provincial and city guidance on approvals to confirm our full season. At this time, we have seen enough progress to confirm the close of our summer season registration needs to take place by the end of June 7 in order to proceed with season preparations. If you decide to withdraw after this date, there will be a $100 administration fee charged as we are committing to many costs. If the season ends up getting cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions, we would provide a full refund to all families that were committed to the season. We realize June 7th is coming very soon and there may be many questions you would like answered before committing to play. Refer to registration page for more information on registering and FAQs.
The Baseball Relaunch Strategy was submitted to the province for approval to allow Little League baseball activities to proceed in a staged approach over the months ahead. We are currently cleared for Phases 1 and 2 of the Re-launch (training & practices) at the provincial level. We anticipate Stage 3 (games) may be decided at the provincial level over the next few weeks. Cal West is are seeking clarification from Little League on applicable elements that we will adopt.
Our association is also seeking approvals from the City of Calgary to clear all baseball activity and receive field permits. We are currently cleared for practice type activity while maintaining social distancing and appropriate safety measures for our players. Cal West is hopeful to get some of our older age groups on the field in June for practice workouts, but we first need to ensure we have a comprehensive safety plan in place that has been adapted from Little League’s guidelines and the Re-Launch document. Our players’ safety is our highest priority, and we are taking COVID precautions very seriously. This includes ensuring all our on-field volunteers and eventually all parents are well-versed in the precautions that need to be employed before any players begin activity.
To make this season safe and successful, it’s critical that all players, families, and volunteers are taking responsibility upon themselves to act safely and look out for each other. We cannot do it without all of your support. We will also need a lot more volunteers helping on each team to employ COVID safety measures.
